    Q:

What is the equivalent thru axle adaptor for this style skewer? The "classic" looks different to me. Thanks in advance?

      Hello Mike,
I bought 3 skewers from Amazon for my trainer! They all worked flawlessly. My kids and I ride on Zwift on our own personal bikes so I needed to get extra skewers. They are Cycleops skewers and cost 12.97 each. I hope that answers your question!

    Q:

I bought a new Fluid 2 and I have a LIV Avail with disc breaks. The trainer skewer is not long enough to fit through my tire. What do you suggest to use?

I have same situation: Liv Invite w/ disc brakes that I need to put on Fluid 2. The trainer skewer is not long enough. I went to my bike shop and bought a Kinetic Skewer T-740. It's the right size.

  • Replacement Trainer Skewer

    Q:

Will this skewer work on a Trek 5500 without any damage to my Trek 5550? The reason I ask is that my skewer in my Trek is slightly larger in diameter than the CycleOps skewer. When I insert the CycleOps skewer into my wheel, it has play and wiggles a little. My Trek 5500 skewer fits into the wheel like a glove, and there is no play at all.

So, will your skewer do any damage to my Trek 5500?

      Hello Judy,
I have no idea if it would be a problem if it's loose. It fits as well as my original Wilier skewer. I have used it on the road and have had no issues with it. I think I would talk to a Trek specialist because they should know if it will harm your bike.                    Sorry I couldn't be more help!

      Hello Jim,
This is a great product once you have everything set up and understand how it works. All you need is the PowerTap, the crank and wheel magnets it comes with and your iPhone 6. You can download the PowerTap app or it even works with MapMyRide with auto pause turned off.
      A few things to know:
If your chain stay tub is not mostly round or has a slightly flattened shape, the PowerTap may seem like it can move around a bit even when using the tie-downs it comes with. But I have taken the bike on the road with it on and for the most part it stays in place. You may need to adjust it slightly every now and then if you use it outside.
Don't try to pair the PowerTap like other Bluetooth devices. You need to start pedaling for apps to read its output. Once you know that everything is good to go.
      Have fun sweating.

Hello, unfortunately I personally don't know how to fix that issue. I think you would have to cut it but then the end would not be threaded. Maybe check with cycleOps to see if there is a spacer option? Hope this helps!

      you fix is simple,
Go to you local hardware store,  you will need enough washers ti fill in the extra space.  buy the ones with a hole similar in size to the skewer, the Skewer will be wider than you bike but it will stay in place.
      Good luck.

I use mine with an old 12 speed, and the spindle did look too long, but it seems to work fine.  I would guess that my cassette (or freewheel, whatever an 80s era bike had) hides a bit of spindle you can see. If it fits the dropouts, I would give it a cautious  try.

    Q:

I have an older bike with a 3 speed. It has a small cable and chain connection which goes into the rear axle. Does this require a diferent skewer? If so, please tell me what to buy. Thank you,

      A:

If the rear axle has less than 120mm spacing, the 3 speed bike will not work. If the bike has at least a 120mm spacing and you have an axle rod, you will need acorn nuts (purchased from your local bike shop) so the rear axle will fit in the trainer.

Sure, possibly if you purchase a used trainer, or if you lost it, or maybe if you have multiple bikes you plan on using on the trainer.

As long as your bike currently uses a standard quick release skewer, it should fit without any issues.

  • Replacement Trainer Skewer

    Q:

    Hi,

I just purchased a Fluid 2 or maybe it's predecessor at GW for a screaming 10 bucks. (It has the tension knob that cam locks the roller rather than the round twisty knob) It looks almost new with just the slightest of finish wear on the flywheel, the paint and decals are perfect.

Anyhow the skewer on my bike (a KHS) fits perfectly... would I still need to replace it with yours?

The trainer didn't come with one.... I did test it and it works great.

    Thanks!

You will want to purchase our trainer skewer as this is the only skewer approved for use with our trainers. Using other skewers could cause damage or potential safety issues
