Great trainer. This is the go-to trainer for Zwift at this price point. It's full functional with Zwift, including live adjustment of tension to simulate gradients. Power metering is accurate, and calibration of the wheel tension is very easy with a torque adjuster knob. Roadfeel is fantastic, it's quiet, and it's easy to set up. Feels sturdy.

Easy to set up. OK for Erg mode. Road Feel is a joke and makes it unrideable. Non existent documentation - nothing about calibration, nothing about how they determine gradient.. Any grade over about 3% is impossible to turn over. Feeds back so much resistance that I have to pedal at 55 rpm and 200W, Would normally be doing 80 rpm and 350W. Will work in Zwift if you change difficulty scale to 30-40%.

I was using the Powerbeam Pro but had to return it for a warranty repair. CycleOps is discontinuing the Powerbeam so they sent me a Magnus instead. Unfortunately the Magnus is much louder than the Powerbeam once you start going over 15 mph. I didn't hear the Powerbeam at all while listening to podcasts and music but now it filters through; and now I am concerned about bothering the neighbors (I live in apartment bldg). The sound is like a high pitched whine. It appears that all electromagnetic trainers have this noise problem.

Second problem is tire slippage with the Magnus (also occurred with the Powerbeam) even though I'm using a trainer tire. Very frustrating but this problem seems to affect all brands of roller style trainers. Just placed a band of grip tape around the roller and slippage is all gone! No telling how long the trainer tire will last as a result but I'd rather pay for add'l tires than deal with slippage.

Good trainer, love the VT software, but really wish it were quieter.

This is my first interactive trainer, and it's great! It works perfectly with the CycleOps Virtual Training app, and pairs nicely with third party interactive software. The wattage is almost spot on with the readings from my bikes powermeter. The Magnus is an awesome trainer that I would recommend to a friend in a heartbeat!

So far so good. Was a bit tricky installing the motor to the frame. Actually had to file a small burr off the frame to get the two to slide together. After that, was easy and its working great thus far. Very sturdy. Overall impressed.

I've been on a few rides and so far this thing is awesome! Way nicer than the Minolta turbo trainer I was using. Only rode with Zwift so fat, but everything connects up beautifully (ant+). I am using the USB extension just for good measure.

I got a Magnus for Christmas and I'm trying to figure out how to use it. I understand that you need to get the subscription in order to have access to recorded routes and videos. But how do you even use if it you don't have a subscription? I expected that there would be some basic workouts available, intervals, hills, etc. that you could use and record your progress. Is there nothing like that?

                      • Q:

I like the video of the FulGaz training app, but the Magnus doesn't seem to increase the resistance (more watts/speed) as I ascend the hills in the FulGaz app. Is this because the app is not compatible with the Magnus, or can this be made to work properly? With the Zwift app, resistance does increase and decrease throughout the video, but the video quality is more like a cartoon and I was hoping to see more realistic video and terrain. The Cycle Apps training app (trial) is also not very realistic in video quality. Are there any other more realistic riding apps that will work with the Magnus?

                        Thanks
