Most training systems measure your body’s response to work, rather than measuring the actual work you perform. Measuring power is the best way to measure work and intensity, and having a constant measure of power helps you train effectively. Read more about training with power here.
CycleOps offers several power training options, depending on when and where you’re riding.
Power management from pro- to entry-level. The PowerTap consists of a hub and CPU display. The hub is installed in your rear wheel and measures torque and cadence to calculate power. A display device shows real-time measurement as you ride. With a wide range of features, there is a PowerTap for every rider - every ability - and a wide price range. Which PowerTap is right for you? See the full line here.
Optimize your training with PowerTap Technology and customized workouts. The PowerBeam Pro Trainer uses the same Strain Gauge Technology found in PowerTap Power Meters for accurate and reliable power measurement. Lock in exact power output or slope for precise interval training with instantaneous resistance changes. Take it to the next level with PowerAgent Workout Creator Software to target your personalized power training zones. Find out more here.
Riding your favorite course doesn't have to be weather or traffic dependent anymore. CycleOps paired PowerTap Technology with its indoor training expertise to create the 300 & 400 Pro Indoor Cycles. These are two high-performance indoor cycles with integrated PowerTap Technology and a true road fit and feel. As you ride, PowerTap Technology paired with Joule 3.0 gives you precise feedback on your workouts so you know you are achieving your goals. And with the 400 Pro you can re-ride workout files that you’ve created or that you’ve downloaded from Training Camp. The 400 Pro uses Controlled Resistance Technology, making it possible to duplicate the most extreme grades and allowing you to try different gear combinations for optimum pacing strategies. Read more about these indoor cycles here.
All of these products sync with PowerAgent, a free software which enables cyclists to download and analyze their training data. Download the latest version of PowerAgent here.
If you don’t ride with CycleOps Power, you can still use Training Camp by importing other supported file types like, .tcx to PowerAgent or entering your rides manually.
Create a Training Camp account and link it to PowerAgent to automatically upload your ride data. To create an account, chose a username and password, and enter information like your location and cycling level. This profile information is used to find other riders like you and is used as your comparison data when going toe-to-toe with other riders. Join Training Camp here.
To upload your rides to Training Camp, you’ll need an account and the most recent version of PowerAgent. After you create your Training Camp account, you can save your username and password in your user profile in PowerAgent. This will link your PowerAgent software to your Training Camp account.
Then, download your rides to PowerAgent like you normally would. Check the Training Camp box in the Save Power Data window and each ride will be automatically uploaded to your profile. After every ride, whether it’s along the back roads, up mountains or just on your trainer, check in with the Training Camp community. Watch your opponents quiver.

What’s better than beating your riding buddy’s max Kilojoules? Having a graph to prove it.
With Training Camp, you can select and compare many of the metrics logged on your rides—like time, distance, intensity in watts and work in kilojoules. You can compare ride types such as your training rides or races. And you can select specific timeframes for comparison like the last two weeks or your last season.
As a Training Camp rider, you can compare any of your ride information to the whole community. Let’s say you plan to ride in California next month. Training Camp lets you compare yourself to other riders in the state. You can see how you match up according to cycling level, gender and age. Do you still have a little work to do? Or are you going to be hammering off the front of the group ride?
You can also go toe to toe with your friends or teammates. Challenge that dude that’s been on your wheel at every ride. Get a team together and see where you stand against the crew across town.
And if you think you’re good enough, compare your rides to the pros. Find out what it would take to beat them.
Training Camp gives you two powerful tools for comparison—the Dashboard and the Scoreboard. The Dashboard illustrates comparisons with a graph. It’s perfect for comparing your rides to the rides of one other person or to an averaged group. Save your favorite comparison groups and return after each ride to see where you stand.
If you want to compare your ride to the rides of multiple cyclists, then you’ll want to use the Scoreboard. You can also use it to compare multiple metrics at one time. The Scoreboard lets you filter information easily to see which rider is the leader in each metric.

Connect with friends, make new ones and see how you rank. You can also create teams—a race team or commuter group—and invite others to join. Coaches can create teams, too, so their riders can share information and view one another’s metrics easily.

Riding with power has another advantage. You can record those epic rides and re-live them on a trainer or indoor cycle that features Controlled Resistance Technology.
Training Camp is a great place to find new training rides. When you can’t ride outside, keep your indoor riding interesting by downloading the best workouts shared by other riders. Rate and comment on your favorites. If you want to share a ride, use PowerAgent to quickly turn it into a workout and upload it for others. It won’t be the riding Dolomites, but it might feel like it!
