A new kind of power meter

  • ANT+ Compatible
  • Can be used for multiple disciplines
  • Calibration required
  • Adjustable elastic strap
  • ANT+ USB included

The PowerCal is the worlds' first-ever power meter calculated from heart rate.  For years there has been a widely recognized correlation between power and heart rate.  In a lab one can predict power output or intensity by knowing heart rate, and vice versa.  But once you leave the lab and enter variables such as hills, wind and fatigue, the relationship gets a bit trickier.  This is why many cyclists and triathletes use both a heart rate monitor and a power meter in training.

Through the use of these tools and the analysis of tens of thousands of power files over the years, the experts at CycleOps and the University of Colorado Boulder have identified patterns which can correlate an athlete's heart rate to power across all real world conditions.  We've utilized this knowledge to create a technology which provides power based on this correlation; in the real world and in real time.

PowerCal displays power on any existing ANT+ compatible power computer display or watch.  Just calibrate PowerCal to your individual power-HR relationship, pair it to your favorite ANT+ compatible display, and off you go!

Since PowerCal is calibrated to you individually, you get a better measure of your caloric expenditure - which is crucial information - whether you're trying to stay on top of your nutrition during a long bike ride or simply trying to shed a few pounds.

Though it's not as precise as our PowerTap, it's a great tool, nicely encapsulated within a heart rate monitor strap, which you can own for the cost of about one-month's groceries.  Not to mention, PowerCal can also be used for running or other activities, allowing you to use the same units of measure across a variety of disciplines or cross-training activities.

So if you're ready to take your performance to the next level, let PowerCal help get you there.

@francois

The PowerCal can be paired as an ANT+ heart rate strap, but if the watch isn’t capable of display ANT+ power, it won’t be able to display power

Hi guys,

With all due respect, we both know that HR lags power out as well as tends to shift with athlete fatigue or condition.
Work is work regardless of what one's body has to do to produce it.
I "love" your other products ---- hope you sell a lot of these things.
BTW, the GARMIN products are info overload. I ride with guys who run off the road trying to watch their maps.
Best, J.G. Neuwirth, Ph.D.
