Dr. Allen Lim - Director of Education

Dr. Lim received his Ph.D. in Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Prior to obtaining his doctorate, Dr. Lim did his undergraduate training in Exercise Science at the University of California at Davis and completed his master's degree in Exercise Physiology.

Dr. Lim has extensive coaching experience. He guided the UC Davis Cycling Team to its first national championship and coached the resident national cycling team at the US Olympic Training Center. He has also coached numerous amateur, professional, and Olympic athletes. He founded and acted as the full-time director of the Celestial Seasonings Professional Cycling Team and served as a guest director of the 7Up Professional Cycling Team.

At the University of Colorado at Boulder, Dr. Lim in conjunction with his peers in the Applied Exercise Science Laboratory completed much of the groundbreaking research in the user of power and heart rate monitoring in optimizing cycling performance. He continues to be actively involved in medical and exercise performance research.

In addition to his role as the Director of Education for the Saris Cycling Group, Dr. Lim is also a partner of ThriveHFM, a health and fitness management consulting group, as well as the Director of Development for the Boulder Life Performance Center. Dr. Lim is passionate and philosophical about sports training, speaking regularly across the country on the topic as an enthusiastic and innovative educator.


Robbie Ventura - Director of Training

Robbie Ventura raced professionally for 11 years with his last four years being on Lance Armstrong’s US Postal squad. Robbie was a criterium specialist and amassed over 70 victories over his 12 year pro career. He also rode the Track World Championships in Hamar Norway and placed 5th in the elimination. Robbie has been racing competitively on the dirt, road and track since the age of 7 and has over 25 years of racing experience.

Robbie graduated with honors from Lake Forest College with a double-major in Business and Psychology. He started Vision Quest Coaching six years ago, and the success of his athletes has helped VQ grow to three locations, 20 coaches, and over 200 athletes. Robbie works with all types of endurance athletes--from weekend warriors to Ironman age groupers to world-class competitors.

Robbie helped produce and star in “Race Day” which is one of the nation’s leading training DVD’s on the market. He has done commercials and print work for Nike and USPS, but he made his commentating debut with OLN in 2006 alongside Al Trautwig and Bob Roll discussing the Tour de France. Robbie’s passion for helping others and love of cycling has allowed him to do what he loves for a living... Ride his bike!

When not riding, Robbie loves playing hockey, golf, wakeboarding and skiing, and especially spending time with his wife, Lori, and their four children: Luna, Enzo, Luciana, and Rocky.
