Julie is a pro triathlete who hails from Britain and currently lives and trains in Boulder, CO. She is the 2009 world champion in both Xterra and 70.3, and her victory list is much too long to even try to list. She attended LSU on a swimming scholarship and holds a B.S. in Kinesiology and a M.S. in Exercise Physiology.

Training Log: Chris Lieto and Julie Dibens Ride On The Big Island

Chris Lieto and Julie Dibens, the male and female bike leaders from the 2010 Ironman World Championship, go for a ride together on the Big Island before the start of the Trek/K-Swiss triathlon team camp at the Mauna Lani Hotel.
 

Training and Racing

What are you pre-event rituals?

 Try and psych out the comp by flexing my guns.  And trying to keep my goggles 100% dry!!

What are your must-haves on race day?

My two legs in good working order, and a big lead off the bike!

What is your favorite pre-event meal?

Race morning, a bagel with half peanut butter and half cream cheese.

What is your favorite post-event meal?

Carol’s cookies. As many as I can handle.

What is your greatest achievement/proudest moment in your sport?

Winning the 70.3 world champs in 2009, and three-peating at the Xterra world champs.

What is your favorite race?

I never thought I would say this, but Kona! Go figure

What was your favorite cartoon growing up?

Thunder Thunder Thundercats are GO!

What is your favorite training song?

Eminem Not Afraid

What is your guilty pleasure?

Eating Carols Cookies and lots of them.  A cookie a day keeps the doctor away

What do you do when you’re not training?

Hanging out with my husband Mike and dog Lucky.  Movies, walking the pooch, skiing.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

A forensic Scientist
