What was your favorite cartoon growing up?

X-Men.  I still watch it on Netflix… Sad?  Perhaps.

Did you ever have a celebrity encounter? If so, who, when, and where?

Compete with Olympians and World Champions all the time.  They are the biggest celebrities to me!

List five things you would want on a deserted island.

  • Food
  • Water
  • A good book
  • Comfortable chair
  • Bike on a PowerBeam Pro

What was the last song that you sung along to?

I don’t sing.  Trust me, it’s a good thing.

What is your most embarrassing moment?

I’m assuming I’ve blocked it out, because I don’t remember a time when I’ve been embarrassed. All modesty and vanity have gone out the window in my time as a swimmer/triathlete!

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I always wanted to be a doctor, but when I now focus on helping people stay healthy instead of fight illness.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Honestly, Harry Potter and other ‘kids’ books.  I don’t think I’ve grown up quite yet.

What are you doing when you are not riding?

Swimming, running, sleeping, and eating.

What is your favorite pre-event meal?

Oatmeal.  Every morning without fail.

What is your favorite post-event meal?

First Endurance Ultragen (followed by a nice greasy burger if the race is long enough)

What is your greatest achievement in your sport?

2007 USAT Rookie of the year or qualifying for 70.3 World Champs in 2009 at my first 70.3 race.

What are your must-haves on race day?

Fresh legs and no mechanicals

Do you have any pre-event rituals?

System of a Down blaring in my headphones.

What was your first bike?

Cannondale R300, although I’m sure I learned to ride on something with training wheels…

How does CycleOps help you achieve your goals?

Training with power is a great way for my coach and I to quantify the work that I am doing and asses whether what we are doing is working.

What are your most important power training metrics?

Training with power is a great way for my coach and I to quantify the work that I am doing and asses whether what we are doing is working.
